Title of the paper: Society in A Midsummer Night’s Dream: Relationship between men and women

Author or topic: William Shakespeare

Abstract:

As presented in the introduction, this piece of writing is  going to treat the different ways in which men and women related to each other in the Elizabethan era. Consequently, comparing the real facts with those in Shakespeare’s comedy A Midsummer Night’s Dream, topics such as parent-child relations, marriage’s constraints,  and the figure of women against the social male authority are going to be discussed in this paper.

We also have to consider the fact that this comedy mixes up a supposed reality with a magical one that heavily influences the character’s behaviour. Thus, the forest becomes a lawless place where people feel free to be themselves. This is important because the “relaxed” atmosphere of the forest contrasts radically with the tense atmosphere that the main characters are involved in within the city.

All the ideas that we have extracted from the realisation of this paper are presented in the conclusion.
